Phonely’s navigation is designed to help you move around the platform faster, switch agents more easily, and pin the tools you use most often. Instead of relying only on the left sidebar, you can use global search, keyboard shortcuts, and a customizable sidebar to get where you need to go with fewer clicks. This guide covers three key navigation features such as search, keyboard shortcuts, and how you can customize your sidebar. Together, these features help you:
  • Open pages faster
  • Switch agents from anywhere
  • Discover pages that may not be visible in the default sidebar
  • Personalize the sidebar for your workflow
  • Use AI when search does not find a page or result
The sidebar stays clean by default, but not every page is pinned there. That is where search and customization become especially useful. Use these features when you want to:
  • Quickly jump to a page without browsing the sidebar
  • Search for and switch to a specific agent
  • Access hidden pages such as Call Paths, Data Tables, or Call Events
  • Pin or unpin features in the sidebar
  • Add external tools as custom shortcuts
Global Search lets you search across pages, tools, settings, and agents from one place. It is the fastest way to move through the platform without manually opening each navigation section. You can open Search in either of these ways:
  • Click the Search field in the left sidebar
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Command + K on Mac
Globalsearch
When Search opens, a centered navigation panel appears. At the bottom of the panel, Phonely shows quick reminders for the keyboard controls:
  • ↑↓ navigate
  • ↵ open
  • esc close
Search helps you quickly find and open pages across the Phonely platform without manually browsing the sidebar. You can use it to open general pages such as Home, optimization pages such as Performance, Call Paths, and Data Tables, and build pages such as Agent Design, Knowledge Base, Workflows, and Agent Settings. It also lets you navigate to account and support pages, including Account Settings, Profile, Plan & Billing, Notifications, Manage Agents, Manage Numbers, Customize Sidebar, and Help Center. In addition to pages, Search can also be used to find specific agents. Once you find the agent you want, you can open it directly from the search results. To open a page with Search:
1

Open Search using Command + K or the sidebar search field.

2

Type the name of the page you want.

3

Use the arrow keys to highlight the correct result.

4

Press Enter to open it.

For example, if you type Call, Search will show the matching pages under the relevant section.

Press Enter to navigate directly there. Search results are organized into labeled categories such as general, optimize your agent, build your agent, account settings, and support. This helps you understand where each result belongs and makes it easier to choose the right destination.

Using Search to switch agents

Search is not just for pages. You can also use it to find and switch to a specific agent. To do this:
1

Open Search

2

Type the agent name.

3

Look for the matching result under AGENTS.

4

Use the arrow keys to highlight it.

5

Press Enter to switch to that agent.

This is useful when you have multiple agents and do not want to manually switch from the sidebar dropdown. The result also shows the agent’s linked number. If your search does not match a page or agent, Phonely shows a fallback state such as nothing found for “…”. In that state, you will also see: Ask AI instead. This is helpful when your request is more conversational than navigational.
Askaiinstead
This lets you hand the query off to Phonely AI instead of manually searching further. For example, if you type something that is not a page name, agent name, or known destination, you can press Enter to ask AI about it.

Keyboard shortcuts

Phonely includes built-in keyboard shortcuts so you can move through the platform faster without relying entirely on the mouse. The most important navigation shortcut is Command + K, which opens the global search panel from anywhere in the platform. From there, you can quickly jump to pages grouped under sections such as General, Optimize Your Agent, Build Your Agent, Review Your Agent, Account Settings, and Support.
Keyboardshortcuts
This makes it easy to open the exact page you need without manually expanding the sidebar or browsing through multiple menus. Use it whenever you want a faster way to navigate, switch context, or reach tools that are not pinned in the sidebar. Once the Search panel is open, use:
  • Up / Down arrows to move through results
  • Enter to open the selected result
  • Esc to close the panel
These controls are shown directly in the footer of the search panel. This makes navigation especially efficient for power users who prefer keyboard-first workflows.

Customizable Sidebar

The default sidebar is intentionally kept focused on the pages most people use often. However, Phonely includes many more pages and tools than what appears there by default. The Customize Sidebar feature allows you to choose which pages appear in the sidebar. This is especially useful for power users who want faster access to more of the platform. Customize the sidebar when you want to:
  • Pin pages you use often
  • Expose advanced features that are hidden by default
  • Simplify the sidebar for your own workflow
  • Reduce navigation friction for repeated tasks
You can reach Customize Sidebar in two ways:
1

Open Search with Command + K

2

Type Customize Sidebar

From the account/settings area

If it appears in the account/settings section, you can open it from there as well. When opened, the customize sidebar modal allows you to toggle pages on or off. Changes apply on save. The modal includes:
  • The page name
  • A short description
  • A longer explanation of what that page does
  • A toggle switch
  • Cancel and Save buttons
Hiding something from the sidebar does not remove access to it. You can still reach it through Search by pressing **⌘K. **

To change whether a page appears in the sidebar:
1

Open Customize Sidebar.

2

Browse to the page you want to control.

4

Click Save to apply your changes.

5

Use Cancel if you want to leave without saving.

If the toggle is off, the page is hidden from the sidebar. If the toggle is on and you save, it appears there.

Custom shortcuts

In addition to built-in pages, Phonely also supports custom shortcuts. A custom shortcut lets you add your own navigation item to the sidebar using a URL. This is useful when you want faster access to tools or pages you regularly open outside of Phonely, such as an external dashboard, internal documentation, a project tracker, a CRM, a company homepage, or any other platform your team uses alongside Phonely. A custom shortcut creates a new sidebar item that links directly to the URL you provide. This helps turn the sidebar into a more complete workspace launcher, especially when your workflow depends on both Phonely and external systems. Use a custom shortcut when you repeatedly leave Phonely to open the same external tool.

How to add a custom shortcut

To create a custom shortcut:
1

Open Customize Sidebar.

2

Navigate to the Custom Shortcut option.

3

Click to add a new shortcut.
